Every week Brett Harmon will bring you his NCAA Fottball Top 25. Harmon is one of the 324 voters for the reddit.com College Football Top 25 poll. You can find the rankings here.
Yet another week of changes in the top 25. Oklahoma was proven to be over rated, meanwhile Notre Dame makes it's jump into the top 10. Plus a second upset of a top 25 team sees another Pac-12 team make it's top 25 debut.
1 (1) Alabama
Alabama holds onto the number one spot once again, with SEC play beginning for them this week in earnest, can they hold onto it?
2 (3) Oregon
Arizona gave them a tough test, but the Ducks defense stepped up and stopped cold what had been a very good offense, all it took was for their offense to answer the bell as well, and they get the number two spot.
3 (2) LSU
Auburn is going to have a down year, and LSU is a national title contender, there was no reason that the Tigers should have had to rely on a safety to win this game. What is going to happen when they play the powers of the SEC?
4 (4) Florida State
With their win over Clemson, Florida State may go undefeated the rest of the season. The offense was everything that it was built up to be, but if the defense could have been able to hold Clemson to less than 600 yards of offense they might have been in the three spot this week.
5 (6) West Virginia
A ten point win over Maryland keeps West Virginia going strong into Big 12 play. Baylor comes to Morgantown this week, as WVU looks like the favorite in the conference.
6 (8) South Carolina
The Gamecocks took it to a pretty good Missouri team asserting their superiority early and often. South Carolina looks to be separating themselves from the rest of the SEC East.
7 (7) Georgia
For as good as the SEC is, they really have some teams that are bad, Georgia beat up on overwhelmed Vanderbilt, but they better watch out Tennessee comes to town this week looking to get back into the Top 25 by taking out the Bulldogs.
8 (9) Ohio State
The Buckeyes open Big 10 play by going on the road to East Lancing and taking on Michigan State. The Buckeyes can truly prove they are the best in the Big 10 with a win.
9 (14) Notre Dame
The Irish are undefeated and are back in the top ten. They have a week off to rest up before playing the U, before a tough test against a very good Stanford team.
10 (11) Stanford
A week off after their upset win over USC will be big for the Cardinal; they travel to Washington this week. This is a potential trap game that could derail Stanford’s season.
11 (15) Kansas State
K-State proved that they are for real, and the Sooners are not, the Cats really had control of the game from beginning to end throwing the Big 12 into a bit of a spin cycle.
12 (12) USC
A bounce back game for USC, was just a USC team doing usual USC things. Now a week off for the Trojans before a Thursday night game versus disappointing Utah.
13 (13) Texas
Texas has a killer schedule coming up the next four weeks, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Baylor all in a row. If the Longhorns can come out relatively unscathed or even undefeated Texas will be in discussions for the title game.
14 (16) Florida
A fortunate week off for the Gators after beating Kentucky last week, LSU comes to the Swamp on October 6th.
15 (17) TCU
A win over Virginia last week, and with SMU this week, and Iowa State the week after that TCU has had a cake walk until Baylor in two weeks.
16 (10) Clemson
If Clemson had been able to keep the Florida State offense under control the Tigers would have won the game. But instead they let the Seminoles score at will and they paid the price.
17 (UR) Oregon State
It was finally time to give the Beavers some love. Wins over then 5th ranked Wisconsin, and 19th ranked UCLA get them into the top 25 for the first time. Yet another threat in the stacked Pac-12 North.
18 (5) Oklahoma
There was a lot of talk about the Sooners being overrated. Getting beat by Kansas State, handily at that, shows that they were playing above their heads. A week to lick their wounds before the meat of the schedule.
19 (20) Michigan State
A win over Ohio State will go far to bringing Michigan State back into the national spotlight after their loss to Notre Dame.
20 (21) Louisville
A touchdown win over Florida International? Louisville is lucky to be in the Big East where their competition will be pretty much terrible all year.
21 (24) Mississippi State
Another week and another dominant win for Mississippi State. They’ll have to get ready though; the SEC schedule starts up next week with Kentucky.
22 (23) Nebraska
Preseason this game against Wisconsin was a potential Gameday candidate, now its Nebraska looking to vault themselves up with Michigan State in the Big 10 title game picture.
23 (25) Boise State
A 7-6 win over BYU is nothing to turn your nose at. But all Boise needs to do is take care of business the rest of the season they they’ll be fine come Bowl Season.
24 (UR) Rutgers
The Big East Title will come down to the Scarlet Knights and Louisville, yup real world beaters right there.
25 (19) UCLA
UCLA hung with Oregon State and had a chance to win it at the end of the game, couple that with the face that the Beavers have been good all year, UCLA doesn’t drop out of the top 25.
