Every week Brett Harmon will bring you his NCAA Fottball Top 25.  Harmon is one of the 324 voters for the reddit.com College Football Top 25 poll.  You can find the rankings here.

With as many matchups as there were in the top 25 last week there was bound to be some shakeup.  But when you add a couple of upsets to the mix then you have a recipe for chaos.  That is just what happened, with Florida State and TCU going down the national outlook has been completely changed, see how much below.

Rank (Last Week)

1 (1)       Alabama

Coming off of a bye week the Crimson Tide now go on the road for two week.  First up this week in Missouri, whose threat in its first season in the SEC seems to have blunted, playing Bama isn’t going to help there.

2 (2)       Oregon

Oregon must be tired, running up and down the field on everyone having scored 40+ points every week this season.  Next week they come to Tempe to play the surprisingly efficient Sun Devils.

3 (6)       South Carolina

Most expected South Carolina and Georgia to play a close and very competitive game, the Gamecocks had other ideas.  USC came out and showed they might be the best chance for anyone to topple Alabama in the SEC this season.

4 (5)       West Virginia

The Mountaineers finally faced something of a defense and they responded well coming from behind to beat the Texas Longhorns.  However WVU really is living and dying by Geno Smith and the offense, but the question is can the offense continue to keep this pace up?

5 (13)     Florida

Florida took it too an LSU team that was primed for a fall since week three.  But despite beating the Tigers, how much was told about Florida?  They can take advantage of a team that’s not all there, but it will be interesting to see how Florida manages against South Carolina and Georgia.

6 (8)       Notre Dame

The ceiling for the Irish is infinite right now.  With the blowout win over Miami, who appeared to be putting things back together, Notre Dame is now primed to jump into the top five with a win over Stanford in South Bend this week.

7 (10)     Kansas State

With a huge game against West Virginia next week the Wildcats cannot overlook Iowa State this week.  The Cyclones are 4-1 and just took down TCU last week; this might be an upset in the making especially since the game is in Ames.

8 (9)       Ohio State

It’s a damn shame that THE Ohio State cannot go to the postseason this year, they might actually be able to beat some of the teams out of the Pac-12 or SEC the way the Buckeyes are playing right now.

9 (15)     Oregon State

With all of the losses of top ten teams this week and the Beavers continued winning means a big jump for OSU this week.  They are undefeated with a couple of upsets under their belts, but only time will tell how much the Beavers deserve to be here.

10 (2)     LSU

The loss to Florida was a few weeks in the making.  The Tigers just have not looked as good or as crisp as they did last year.  Now LSU will be looking to make something of the rest of the season and maybe even stealing the SEC title game from Alabama if possible.

11 (12)  USC

Five weeks into the season and USC’s lack of depth is starting to become painfully apparent.  Right now they are starting to look somewhat vulnerable in the Pac-12 south for someone else to upset them and take the division for themselves.  The bye week cannot come soon enough for the Trojans.

12 (3)     Florida State

Last week I wrote that all the Seminoles had to do was take care of business for the rest of the season and they would be in prime placement for the end of the year. Then they go and lose to NC State, once again proving that Florida State always has one good loss in them a year.

13 (17)  Oklahoma

How do you make up from getting blown out, easy just blow out your next two opponents, at least that is what Oklahoma has done.  Now a chance to really make yourselves feel better beat Texas at the Red River Shootout.

14 (11)  Texas

Texas has their chance to beat West Virginia they really did. But in the end the Mountaineers were just too much for the Longhorns.  But take all that pent up aggravation you have Texas and direct it at Oklahoma this week, I’m sure they deserve it.

15 (16)  Clemson

600 yards of offense and the Tigers still had to come from behind to beat Georgia Tech.  But with Florida State’s loss the door to win the division has reopened for the Tigers.

16 (7)     Georgia

The Bulldogs did not look like a top ten team when they got beat bad by South Carolina.  Georgia didn’t have an answer to South Carolina, now they get to sit around and think about it for a week before going to Kentucky.

17 (18)  Stanford

Stanford showed their grit after a tough loss by earning a tough overtime win over Arizona.  But the questions at quarterback still remain from fans of the Cardinal.  Josh Nunes will have his hands full this week against a tough Notre Dame defense.

18 (20)  Louisville

Louisville might be the toughest team in the Big East they have wins over ACC and SEC teams, North Carolina and Kentucky, so they have some legitimate wins, but they are more of a product of their competition than anything else.

19 (21)  Mississippi State

Mississippi State won’t get any breaks for the rest of the season.  It’s all SEC and tough SEC from here on out, this week starts it hosting Tennessee.

20 (UR) Rutgers

Another team from the Big East and another team that is benefiting from a weak conference and non-conference schedule to build up an undefeated record.

21 (UR) Texas A&M

The Aggies have bounced back nicely after their week two loss to Florida to build up a 4-1 record.  Now they play an undefeated Louisiana Tech team, a rescheduled game from week one.

22 (UR) Arizona State

Todd Graham has done great things with the Sun Devils in his first season, and has led them to a 4-1 record.  Got their first win on the road at Cal since 1997, and now has them poised to be a 5-1 team going into a Thursday night matchup on national TV against Oregon.

23 (23)  Boise State

Boise State at this point is riding their reputation from the past few years to keep in the top 25. I have no doubt that the Broncos could still pull off some upsets, but this year’s team leaves much to be desired.

24 (UR) Ohio

They won by two scores over a Big 10 opponent and are currently undefeated, give the Bobcats some love at this point they deserve it.

25 (14)  TCU

Their streak of conference wins was bound to end eventually, just in a few weeks against the powers of the Big 12 not Iowa State.  Now with quarterback Casey Pachall is out indefinitely things could get a whole lot worse for the Horned Frogs.
